We’re pleased to announce the availability of G.Fast across our home and business broadband plans! This is a new version of FTTC which is Ultrafast and can provide speeds of up to 330mbps down and 50mbps up.
What is G.Fast?
This product is another DSL protocol standard which can provide very high speeds over short loops (telephone lines) and as such is best suited to lines that are 250 metres or less in length. As a result, this product isn’t as widely available as standard FTTC just yet.
How do I get it?
Firstly, you’ll need to check to see if G.Fast is available in your area. You can do this by entering your phone number or post code into our updated availability checker here. If the checker returns a speed estimate for the product then you can proceed with an order through either our home or business broadband pages depending on your requirements.
When you place an order we will arrange for a managed engineer installation with Openreach and an engineer will attend your premises to install the service and provide a modem. At this point in time, customers will need to provide their own router or firewall for use with this product but we can make suggestions on what to use. However, we do plan to offer a router for this service as an optional extra in a few weeks.
What speeds can I get?
As with FTTC the speed estimate for your premises is dependant on your line length and line characteristics. The two speed profiles that we have available for this service are as follows:
160mbps download / 30mbps upload
330mbps download / 50mbps upload
We charge £97+VAT to install or migrate this service as passed to us by our suppliers.
The service is only available on a 12 month contract term at this point in time.

EoFTTC. A more affordable leased line, something which I’m sure will appeal to you! How does this service differ from other leased line services on offer and in what way is it similar to standard FTTC? We explore this in more detail below.
Our connectivity services consist of broadband (ADSL / VDSL (FTTC)) and Ethernet based leased line services (EoFTTC, EFM, and Fibre). The EoFTTC (Ethernet over FTTC) service we provide differs from our broadband services in a number of ways:
- Our EoFTTC services offer a 1:1 contention ratio which means you are guaranteed a set speed at all times. Therefore you are guaranteed a speed of between 2 and 20 Mbps depending on the characteristics of your line and we allow bursting to 80 Mbps on the downstream, free of charge!
- In addition, the service allows for completely unlimited usage.
Service Level Agreement
- We understand the importance of internet connectivity for your business so we provide a 7-hour fix SLA on this service.
Fully Managed Install
- Utilising existing FTTC infrastructure enables a quicker install time than that of other leased line services. So the service can be live in just 25-35 working days;
- EoFTTC is generally much cheaper to install than a Fibre Leased Line;
- We provide a managed Cisco router (or equivalent) if requested.
Should you get EoFTTC?
This very much depends on the size of your business and your goals. If you’re a small business with up to 20 people who wants the benefits of Ethernet connectivity without the high price point, then EoFTTC is probably for you. This can enable you to reliably utilise VPN (Virtual Private Networking) for remote workers, VoIP (Voice over IP) and work more efficiently with Cloud Applications.
In summary, with this service you’re getting a product that delivers the benefits of Fibre Ethernet Leased Lines but at a cost which is more comparable to FTTC. This is great for small businesses and power users who want guaranteed bandwidth, an SLA and a lower priced entry point to Ethernet services.

What is a RIPE meeting?
A RIPE meeting is a 5 day event where internet service providers, network operators and anyone else from around the world gather to discuss policies and procedures used by the RIPE NCC, participate in working group sessions and share experiences. The meeting is open for anyone to attend, please see here.
What does RIPE do?
RIPE is an independent, not-for-profit membership organisation that supports the infrastructure of the Internet through technical coordination in their service region (Europe, the Middle East and parts of Central Asia). They act as the RIR or Regional Internet Registry providing Internet resources such as IP addresses (IPv4 and IPv6) and AS numbers to members in the service region. As such, members tend to be comprised of Internet service providers (ISPs), telecommunication companies and large organisations. You can find out more about them by following this link.

We’re pleased to announce some changes to our pricing structure!
Across all of our broadband products we have reduced the pricing of 1 month contracts to be in line with our 12 month contract products. In addition, our business broadband has seen a price reduction by making ‘enhanced care’ an optional extra for customers who feel they need it.
Finally, we have reduced the pricing of our Standard ADSL Broadband packages to be just £25/month.
